The interior of St Benedict's Church was
colourfully painted by Father John Velge
between 1899 and 1904. He was a catholic
missionary from Belgium and illustrated
the walls of this small church on the hills
above Kealakekua Bay with biblical scenes
depicting heaven and hell.
